With generous support from donors like the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation, Diamond Children’s Medical Center in Tucson will realize its dream of bringing a Play Zone to hospitalized kids and teens – a space just for them and a respite from their hospital rooms and medical procedures. As a Partner in Wellness, the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation empowers Diamond Children’s certified Child Life Specialists to use this whimsical and practical space for therapeutic interventions that are largely play-based—as this is how kids connect to the world around them and master their experiences. Young patients will have the chance to explore their emotions, express themselves creatively, and participate in activities to ease stress and uncertainty.
Companies, foundations, and government agencies that generously support nonprofit Banner Health with an annual philanthropic investment of $10,000 or more are given the distinction of Partners in Wellness. Their gifts to the Banner Health Foundation and/or Banner Alzheimer's Foundation have a significant impact on patients and the broader community, supporting a wide variety of care programs, supportive services, medical research, community health education, and more.
The H.S. Lopez Family Foundation's mission is to fund projects and programs that improve the quality of life through programs and projects focusing on health, education, and welfare. Supporting the Play Zone, at first look, would be promoting the health aspect of our mission since it is connected to the hospital setting. However, it also contributes to education by providing a place where children can explore and learn about their health issues or the health issues of their parents and/or siblings; and welfare, by assisting children and their families who may otherwise receive little support while navigating a stressful time in their lives.
The H.S. Lopez Family Foundation seeks to better society by funding programs for those with disadvantaged circumstances. Giving assistance to those in need provides a stepping stone for those individuals to reach their full potential and, perhaps, impact society in a positive way.
